How to get around Lake Tahoe:

Navigating through Lake Tahoe is not difficult! Below are some helpful tips and resources that can help you move throughout the area. 

Transportation Tips:

  • Check with your employer to see if they provide transportation or are affiliated with a company that can provide discounted rates.

  • Book your transportation at least one week ahead. Booking as a group can usually get you better rates.

  • You can find a few maps of the Lake Tahoe area here

Modes of Transportation:

  • TART (Tahoe Area Regional Transit)

    • TART provides bus transportation on the North Shore and to Truckee (for connections with Amtrak or Greyhound). ​

    • Buses are equipped with bike and ski racks.

    • Buses run between 6:30 AM and 6:30 PM daily.

    • Fares range depending on how you want to purchase your ticket. 

      • If you want an all day pass, you can enjoy unlimited travel for $3.00.

      • If you want to purchase a fare going one-way, the cost would be $1.25.

      • Punch cards for 20 rides are also available for $21.00.

  • Uber/Lyft

    • Uber and Lyft are now accessible in the Lake Tahoe region.​

    • To book a ride, make sure app is downloaded on smartphone. 

    • Be sure you are getting into the correct Uber/Lyft and are confirming with the driver before taking off.

  • South Tahoe Airporter

    • The South Tahoe Airporter is available one way and round trip.​

    • This mode of transportation comes and goes from Reno to South Lake Tahoe.
